'The National Certification Mark' Certification marks denote that the goods or services for which they are used possess certain defined characteristics. Whilst France and the United Kingdom have used certification marks for a long time, owners of quality labels in Germany have to register their labels as collective or individual trademarks. This work explores the problems involved. Using the method of comparative law the work examines how legal provisions should be designed to solve these problems. Within this context, the German legislator's propositions to introduce a certification mark into the new trademark law are analyzed.

Svenja Buckstegge studierte Rechtswissenschaft an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena und der Université de Bourgogne (Dijon). Das Referendariat absolvierte sie am Landgericht Stuttgart. Seit Juni 2016 ist sie als Rechtsanwältin in einer Wirtschaftskanzlei in Stuttgart tätig. Im Jahr 2018 promovierte sie an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
